Your Hands on a Camera Stories

This is Will from BYU. Are you all still in school? I don't know when the semester ends for you.

Well, I hope you are still there, because I need a favor.

I am in a Documentary History/Theory class, and I am writing a paper on the effects making a Doc has on the creator. Its easy to see what the Doc can do for the subject, like the woman in Kristen's doc, we can see how the experience she had with the super market has affected her, but I'm interested in how the entire process of finding a story you wanted to tell, filming it, finishing it and screening it has had on you all, the creators.

How as the creation process of your documentary affected you? Are you different now than you were before? Have you grown? Have you learned something about art, and creating it? Maybe you are not different, but did you like the experience? Why? What has going through the process of making this doc done for you? Have you gained a greater respect or love for the people or communities you filmed? What ever your feelings are. Those are just a few questions to stimulate thought.

Those that want to share feelings about their experiences with making their film this year, please e-mail me.

Thanks so much. I loved Hands on a Camera this year. It is, by far, East Shore's best year. I loved all your films, and and happy to own the DVD.

it doesn't matter if you win by an inch or a mile winning is winning but at the end of the movie it kind of tells us that winning is it every thing.this media showed that you could get away with street racing but yet more people started racing and were cought more . this goes to show you that the media isnt all ways right.

the songs on this media is very sick ! makes me feel like a lion, but its like the circle of life man. the son is destined to become king even though scar wants to become king witch is simbas uncle who is his fathers brother. His father mufasa is the king now, and in a fall from a cliff all he has holding him up is his brother scar and scar pushes him of so he can become king, but his plans are changed when little simba doesn't die and becomes king.So in the end they go through more dangerous stuff and scar finally dies the end.

the subway in new york has had some changes because the people are getting out of shape. it creates the illusion that people are lifting weight trying to show that any one can work out.

sweet movie, first of it's kind ever very cool . it is about life and begining of life and what you do with it because when you live for about 70 years but die for an eternity. so don't spend time sulking or despising. just live life for those you love.

a poster of a cigarette that looks like it just fell from the sky onto a car. i guess that it was trying to tell me that lot of people get killed in car crash as much as people die from cigarette.

So yesterday i watched intervention with my father like always and it was about this kid who was addicted to DXM which is like cough medicine. Then it was also about this guy who was 22 and was morbidly obese he weighed 546 pounds. They were both basically gonna die if they didnt get treatment especially the over weight kid so they both went to treat meant josh the over weight kid lost over 141 pounds while in treatment and hes still working to loose the rest. Ben the kid addicted to DXM got out of treatment and relapsed he is now homeless and still using.

This week we're going to start making musical instruments. I wanted to get all guitars but the place we got them from only had four in stock. So, we ended up with four guitars, four ukuleles, and four mandolins. I think we should make an online tutorial of the process. What do you think?

East Shore vs Tim View

Well all in all, I think the film festival was pretty fun, aside from me feeling a bit ill and it was way too hot. Our documentaries had a far better quality than Tim View's, but were none the less good for first timers who had never touched a camera or a computer.
